Tony Dereume

Chef and Nutritionist

Beginning in food service at the age of 17 – as a dishwasher in the old King Neptune Restaurant in New Westminster – it has been a lifelong journey for Tony Dereume, who is now the Chef and Nutritionist at Amenida Seniors Community.

By 1990, Tony had completed short order, institutional and a la carte cookery at BCIT and VVI and began cooking at the Vancouver Convention Center and other hotels. However, when an opportunity came up at Amenida Seniors Community, Tony never looked back.

By 2006, Tony had acquired interprovincial Red Seal Certificate, and by 2010, had gained the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management Certification (CSNM). He remains a Registered Nutritionist in good standing with CSNM.

Tony is also an avid bagpiper and has been known to play for the residents on occasions such as Robbie Burns’s day.

There have been plenty of challenges for all of us lately, but Tony remains positive and committed to bringing fresh, local, and healthy menu items to the residents of Amenida.
